UHD Career Services is sponsoring a Career Expo from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 14, in the Special Events Room, third floor, Academic Building, where students and alumni can meet employer representatives from about 50 companies and organizations.
“The Career Expo is an opportunity for students to gain leads on internships and jobs as well as information about career possibilities,” said Steve Markert, Career Services director. “Students can network with professionals, market themselves and practice speaking with employers and answering questions.”
The Expo is open to all UHD students and graduates in all majors. Participants should bring multiple copies of resumes and dress professionally, Markert said. Company representatives can provide information about their organizations, the hiring process and company cultures. The list of employers is available in Career Services and was distributed via gatormail. Career Services staff members will update the list until the day of the event.
“Note that not all employers will accept resumes at the Expo,” Markert said. “Some employers have legal and administrative reasons for requiring an internet application. In those circumstances, students can distinguish themselves in that process by mentioning in their cover letters the employer representative, the Expo, and what they learned through their interaction with the company’s representative.”
